About Pei Chun Public School

Established in 1933, Pei Chun Public School is the only school in Singapore bearing the word “Public” – a testament to its roots in community spirit and service. The school has long taken pride in delivering bilingual and holistic education to its students.

In the first week of May 2025, a group of 30 Pei Chun students visited Hanoi. As part of their itinerary, Hanoikids was honored to collaborate with Pei Chun teachers to organize a meaningful talkshow on the theme of leadership and teamwork skills. The event was an inspiring experience for both Pei Chun students and Hanoikids members.

“Great leaders inspire greatness in others”

In today’s ever-changing world, leadership is more important than ever. With a shared belief in nurturing leadership from a young age, Hanoikids and Pei Chun Public School joined hands to create an engaging and impactful talkshow experience. Through open discussions, insightful sharing, and guided reflections, students explored what it truly means to lead with heart and courage.

Learning, Growing, and Having fun together

Far from a conventional lecture, the talkshow featured dynamic, interactive activities designed to keep everyone engaged and involved.

We began with a hands-on challenge: building the tallest tower from spaghetti and marshmallows. The students showcased impressive teamwork, with the winning structure reaching a height of 71 centimeters! This was followed by an insightful session with two of Hanoikids’ own student leaders – Fiore (Vice President) and Peony (Deputy Head of External Relations). They enthusiastically shared with the kids about their leadership stories at Hanoikids.

Motivated by the speakers, Pei Chun students divided into smaller groups to tackle real-life challenges faced by Hanoikids leaders. Each team brainstormed, strategized, and presented creative solutions – demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and confidence. The room was filled with applause and encouragement, as students received recognition from peers, teachers, and Hanoikids members alike. The event concluded on a high note, with students bursting out in laughter, joyfully receiving adorable souvenir packs including stickers, keychains, and exclusive “Leadership” pin badges from Hanoikids.

“It’s a great experience for the kids!”

“The talkshow’s theme is very relevant to the kids. It teaches leadership through fun and interactive activities,” shared Ms. Tan Li Yuan Joanne, a teacher from Pei Chun. “It’s a great experience for the kids. They learned not only about leadership but also about themselves”.
There is no doubt that every Pei Chun student was extremely proactive and energetic. They all learnt something at the end. The feedback in the post-event “reflection notes” showed just how much they took away from the experience.

“My favorite moment was seeing a very shy girl in my group – who hadn’t participated much earlier – suddenly raised her hand and asked me for help,” shared Yogurt, one of our supporters. “I was so happy to see her open up. After we talked, she found the courage to work with her teammates.”

The success of this event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our amazing volunteers. Hanoikids sincerely thanks each and every one of you for making this experience so memorable.
