It is always the simple that produces the marvelous. Let’s take a look back at Hanoikids’ early years, when things were precarious, to see how our baby Hanoikids took our first steps.

It all started on a hot summer day. At that time, foreign tourists were still a novelty in Vietnam. With a deep love for Hanoi, our Oldies – young teenagers felt it was a pity for those tourists because they can’t see the hidden beauty inside the thousand-year-old capital. Meanwhile, how to improve their English was also a massive problem for these students for a long time. And then, they came up with an extremely “crazy” idea: conducting free English tours for foreign guests. With the name “Hanoikids”, we want to bring a youthful, pure, and carefree spirit to international friends.

With the enthusiasm of the youth, our Oldies made great efforts to spread the word “Hanoikids” by distributing leaflets (there were no social media at that time). After nearly 2 months of perseverance, the first tour-booking letter was delivered to Kids by an Australian guest. The group burst into joy. A crazy idea but extremely promising. One day, Hanoikids will have hundreds of tours!

Contrary to our expectations, there was a long period of silence after that letter. The number of tours was sporadic, and the Leaderboard of the organization was also fledgling. But we were undeterred, still persisted in doing everything to promote the club, slowly building a unified and organized club. From the taglines: “Make yourself at home” & “Be more than a tourist”, we redefined our mission as “Be a little ambassador of Hanoi”.
