Hang Buom Cuisine Street inaugurated in the Old Quarter

The 300m long Hang Buom Street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter has been made a cuisine street, serving Hanoi traditional confectionery and beverages and some European and Asian dishes to night market visitors along the Hang Dao-Dong Xuan route.

The inauguration of the Hang Buom Food Street on September 19, 2014 aimed to introduce the cultural space of the Old Quarter to visitors and add to the services at the site, one of the popular tourist attractions in Hanoi.

9-day 2015 Lunar New Year holiday: Things you should know

It has just been officially announced by the Vietnamese Government that the 2015 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday will begin on February 15 and end on February 23. State employees will have to work on Saturday (February 14) to compensate for the extra day off (Monday, February 16).

Previously in November 2014, Ministry of Labor submitted two options for the Tet holiday - 7 days or 9 days - to Vietnam Prime Minister N.T.Dung.

2016 Lunar New Year to last for 9 days

The Government has justed agreed with the proposal suggested by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs that will grant state employees nine days off for 2016 Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Accordingly, the official 2015 Tet holiday will begin on February 6 and end on February 14.

Fireworks display to mark Hanoi’s 60th Liberation Day

The People’s Committee of Ha Noi has approved 15-minute firework displays at 30 venues on October 10 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the capital’s Liberation Day.

As scheduled, high range firework shows, starting from 9pm, will be conducted at five places, including Hoan Kiem lake (Sword Lake), Thong Nhat park in Hai Ba Trung district, West lake in Tay Ho district, Van Quan lake in Ha Dong district, and My Dinh national stadium.
