9-day 2015 Lunar New Year holiday: Things you should know

It has just been officially announced by the Vietnamese Government that the 2015 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday will begin on February 15 and end on February 23. State employees will have to work on Saturday (February 14) to compensate for the extra day off (Monday, February 16).

Previously in November 2014, Ministry of Labor submitted two options for the Tet holiday - 7 days or 9 days - to Vietnam Prime Minister N.T.Dung.

Hanoi charges new relic admission fees

Authorities in Hanoi have announced new admission fees for the capital’s noted relics and scenic attractions for 2015.

The new rates, issued by the People’s Committee, have been applied since January 1.

Free wifi coming to Vietnam’s north-south trains

In a bid to boost competitiveness, Vietnam's railway operators are going to install wireless Internet on several north-south express trains this month.

Nguyen Van Binh, deputy general director of Hanoi Railway Passenger Transport Company, told news website Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon (Saigon Times) that they would finish the installation on SE1, SE2, SE3, and SE4 routes traversing Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by January 20 to serve travels for Tet, Vietnam's Lunar New Year.

Tet Holiday or Vietnamese Lunar New Year is coming and we would like to hereby keep you advised of the schedule of 2015 Tet Holiday as follows:
• Our club will not provide tours from 16th February, 2015 to 22nd February, 2015. Tours will be available again on 23rd February, 2015.
• Our tour operators will be off from 16th January, 2015 to 20th February, 2015.

Since June 2013, a small alley in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district transforms into an antique market once a week, where people gather to buy and sell antiques and reminisce on the old days.

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to open from December 5

According to the management board of Ho Chi Minh Complex, the daily tribute ceremony to President Ho Chi Minh, which allows visitors to enter the mausoleum, will be held again from December 5.



The official announcement was sent to agencies, organizations, people, overseas Vietnamese and foreigners after the temporary closure for periodic maintenance and renovation in 2014. Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi will be temporarily closed for maintenance from September 5 to December 5.

During this time visitors will only be able to view the mausoleum from the outside.
