Fireworks displays planned for Lunar New Year

The capital city of Hanoi's People's Committee has decided to stage five high-range fireworks displays, alongside 25 smaller ones, across the city on the Lunar New Year's Eve.

Major areas earmarked for festivities include Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake, Thong Nhat Park in Hai Ba Trung District, Lac Long Quan Garden in Tay Ho District, Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong District and My Dinh National Stadium in Nam Tu Lien District.

9-day 2015 Lunar New Year holiday: Things you should know

It has just been officially announced by the Vietnamese Government that the 2015 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday will begin on February 15 and end on February 23. State employees will have to work on Saturday (February 14) to compensate for the extra day off (Monday, February 16).

Previously in November 2014, Ministry of Labor submitted two options for the Tet holiday - 7 days or 9 days - to Vietnam Prime Minister N.T.Dung.

Hanoi charges new relic admission fees

Free wifi coming to Vietnam’s north-south trains

In a bid to boost competitiveness, Vietnam's railway operators are going to install wireless Internet on several north-south express trains this month.

Nguyen Van Binh, deputy general director of Hanoi Railway Passenger Transport Company, told news website Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon (Saigon Times) that they would finish the installation on SE1, SE2, SE3, and SE4 routes traversing Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by January 20 to serve travels for Tet, Vietnam's Lunar New Year.
